Christmas '08

It was a good one...

I woke up at 3am to start dinner for the family. I was nervous because I was taking on a smoked brisket. I had never smoked any kind of meat before, let alone a brisket. Romina woke up right away too, so we hung out for a while and enhoyed some alone time....if ya know what i mean! Santa came early for me!

Kids woke up around 7:30 and they got to open presents...I realized something as Gabe opened his presents. Sesame Street is out of control. I have never seen so many Elmo presents in all of my life. Don't belive me? Check this out!

Well, at 3pm. The family all started arriving for the big feast. After Dad, Casey, and myself pulled moms van out of the snow, we all started to chow down! My brisket was enjoyed by all. At least I think it was. Dad even said it was a lot better than he thought it was gonna be. Which in my family is the best kind of compliment one can get.

After dinner, my father-in-law decided he wanted to go home, and since that meant having to move my moms van, and that meant having to move Alans van, everybody went home. So Romina and I sat around and watched Gabe and Lincoln play with their new toys.

After a bit, we finally worked up the energy to clean up and leave the house clean! That was the biggest accomplishment of all! A clean house at the end of Christmas day. Soon after the kids went to sleep and so did Romina and I. Looking at the entire day, it really was a great Christmas!

The Mullet

My parents are often on my case about cutting my son Gabe's hair. It was getting pretty long, and most of the time it was covering the poor boys eyes.

I have told my parents on more than one occasion that if they wanted to take him and get his hair cut, that was fine by Romina and I. I don't do it just because I can't imagine what a pain it would be to keep him sitting still for the duration of the cut.

Grandma got smart though. Two days ago Gabe and Lincoln were hanging out at Grandma's and she decided she would cut Gabe's bangs so he could see again. She trimmed a bit on the side and around his ears too. The result. Gabe is sporting a Mullet! Yeah, the mullet. Buisiness in the front, Party in the back. I will be taking some pics before we go and get him a hair cut. After all it isn't everyday you have a mullet.

I think that Grandma had this planed all along. Give him a mullet and Marc will be bound to give him a haircut. Well, it worked. All I can say is, 'Touche Mom, Touche.'

An Email

So I wrote my cousin TJ an Email today. I liked it so I decided to post it here for all to read. (meaning Brianne and possibly dad.)

i recall telling you that i would write you at least once while you were on your mission and this is number three already. But that is ok.

Not much going on around here. Workin hard here inside the prison. It is lots of fun. I get to yell and be mean to the guys here. Well, when they deserve it that is. No customer service here.

So I am glad that you are enjoying the work. Here is my deep thought for today.

I was always counting down the time until i had left. And I was so happy to be home. I couldnt wait to have La Frontera burritos again, and go to see a movie, or just not get up on time.

Now I would give anything to be able to go back to Chile and see the people again.

I have been reading a book called the Alchemist here at work at night and last night I read something that made me look at life in a new way.

Where I am in the book a young man is on his way to Egypt to see the Pyramids. He is traveling in a Caravan across the Sahara desert, and he has become good friends with the leader of the Caravan.

The Leader says to him one day that he doesnt think about the things in the past, nor the things that will happen in the future. When he is eating he thinks only about eating, and when he is traveling he keeps his mind on his travels. He doesnt worry about what will happen at the next stop, instead he worried about what he is doing in that moment.

He then goes onto say that this is the only real way to experience happiness. To live in the moment, and not worry about what has already happened or what is going to happen in the future. Just enjoy life as it is.

That made me think differently all the sudden. I always think that life will be so much better when my kids are older and Romina and I have more money. But I know that if I think that way, when the day comes that all that happens, I am gonna long for the days I am in right now. So I got home this morning and hugged and kissed my kids and enjoyed them for who they are right now. Because soon I won't be able to. Does that make sense?

Anyway, I don't think you are getting trunky or anything. I am not even trying to lecture you about anything. I just thought I would share my thoughts with you and maybe it will help you one day! Take care and tell the Chilean people I love em.

Love

Marc.

Halloween

Well, it has been long enough I guess. I was hoping to have finished my latest film some time ago, but life sometimes gets in the way and things take longet than expected. Anyway, tonight we finished filming all the scenes, and now I have a guy creating the music. This new film will be completly original. Everything in it will have been made specifically for this film alone. I was looking at the finished product today (without sound) and I was so excited to actaully see my thoughts play out on camera. This is going to be the best film I have made by far. Hopefully it will be out within the next week. But no promises.

Anyway, here are some pics from this years Halloween

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Jason woke up with a massive headache. Everything was dark. The air he sucked in was humid and rank.

"Why is there a bag over my head?" He wondered. Disoriented and confused, he tried to move his arms only to find they were bound behind him. He kicked his legs to find that they were bound as well. Then his memory slowly became unclouded.

"The man in the alley, he did this to me." Jason thought. He struggled some more, trying to free himself from the bindings. He had to stop though as the pain was unbearable. The bindings seemed to be cutting into his skin. In frustration, desperation, and fear, Jason screamed out. The scream then turned into a cry.

"What is going on? Why is this happening to me?" He questioned out loud.

"Because you have information that we want" a voice replied. Jason nearly fell over in his chair from fear, when the voice sounded. He thought he was alone up to that point.

"So tell me what you know and I will make your death less painful."

"I swear to you I don't know what you are talking about, please just let me go." Jason pleaded. The man walked up to Jason, lifted his leg up and kicked him in the chest, toppling Jason to the ground and knocking the wind out of him. The bindings on his wrist dug deeper into his skin. Jason fought for air, and when it returned he yelped in pain.

"I will give you a minute to think things over. When I return, I will not be so patient." The man said calmly.

Jason then listened to the footsteps of the man distance themselves from where he now lay. He heard a door creak open and slam. The footsteps then faded away. He shifted his body to the side and began to shake nervously.

"Who is this guy? What does he expect me to tell him?" He thought. He lay there in pain for five minutes, trying with all his might to know what it was he was being tortured for. I he knew he would have no problem giving the information up. But that was just the thing. He didn't know anything. Had the man picked up the wrong person? There could be no other explanation.

The door cracked open again, and the man in the bowler hat walked in the room.

"Have you made your decision?" He asked.

"Sir, I don't know what you are talking about. I really think you have mistaken me for someone else. If you let me go, I promise I won't say a word to anybody. I mean, I couldn't even if I wanted to. I haven't even seen your face." Jason pleaded.

The man neared Jason and kneeled at his side.

"Perhaps you are right my dear boy. Perhaps you aren't Jason Jason. Maybe you aren't the one I have been tracking for the last 6 months. I guess it could be possible you aren't the one who has been contacted by the Ghost. So I guess I can let you go. I mean, after all, you haven't seen me or anything."

The man paused for a second; he reached to his thigh and unsheathed a 10-inch hunters knife. He looked at it shimmer in the light. His eyes shot up and to the left as he thought. He shook his head and put the knife back in its place. He reached inside his pocket and pulled out a Swiss army knife. He searched for the corkscrew and pulled it out of its slot. He nodded in approval.

"Lets just make sure you don't ever see me." The man said. Then he slowly pierced the corkscrew through the black sack covering Jason's head and into his right eye and twisted until it was in an inch deep. He then tugged Jason's eye out of its socket. Jason howled in agony. The pain was excruciating. The man started on the second eye and did just like the first. This time Jason didn't feel the pain; he had gone unconscious once again. The man removed the black sack that had been covering Jason's head.

"You won't be needing this anymore." He said to the sleeping Jason. He walked over to a table and grabbed a medical kit. He returned to where Jason lay and started cleaning his eye sockets.

"Mother always told me to keep your toys nice and tidy."

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Rollo Danalos was on a mission. He had been sent by his employer to find some young kid that had gone missing in Sydney about a week earlier. Rollo didn’t know why his employer wanted this kid, nor did he care. He would be paid all the same, and as far as he was concerned, the less he knew about these things, the better.

What he did know was that the kids name was Jason Baynes a 19-year-old black kid from Sydney. The picture Rollo had been given, showed Jason to be about 6 feet tall. He was skinny, but with fat cheeks. His short hair was dyed blonde as well.

Jason had been reported missing by his girlfriend when he didn't come home after 3 days. The police could find no leads or clues to his disappearance and told the girl he had probably just gone on holiday without her. Nobody but Jason's boss and girlfriend had even notices he was gone. He didn't seem like anybody of any importance, but for some reason Rollo's employer wanted him found, a reason, that Rollo was not at all interested in knowing.

Rollo had a very good idea as to who had caused the disappearance of the kid. If his employer was interested in Jason, then Solono would know about him too. Solono was one of the few people in the world who even knew his employer existed. Solono himself was similar in the fact that he seemed to be no more than a conspiracy theorist creation in the minds of the few people who had heard of him. He was, however, very real.

The Gallon Challenge!!!

I have had this idea in my head for a while now and I decided it was time to finally get it out. So I called over my friend Mike Tenney and we got to work. This movie is awesome and has been getting great comments everywhere it goes! It put me at a whole new level adn I can't go back to the old one shot video's anymore. We shot over 60 different clips to get this all together, and editing took about as long as the movie itself took to make. Anyway, it was really fun to make, and I hope you all enjoy it! I dedicate it to Holly Sheaffer, since it was made the same day she was born!

Phillip Essex

Today I got to work and checked my email, only to find one of my fellow classmates from the academy took his life. His name was Philip W. Essex. He was a great person and I will miss him dearly. It is wierd though because he is the second person in my class to die. The other one was Sean Sivertsen. He worked for Summit County and he died of cancer. It is hard for me to fathom that two men that I sweat and bled with, to become an officer of the law with, are gone. Anyway, I am not very good at expressing my feelings. So I just wanted to say to both Essex and Sivertson that they will be missed.

Class 231: FAMILY AND DUTY

Sivertsen is on the top row second on the left.
Essex is on the second to last row on the far right in the sky blue shirt

Chapter 2.

This is a chapter that will need revising later on. When I wrote it, I couldn't think of the best way to describe these what was going on. I told myself that as the story progressed I would come back and fix this to make it sound better. I may even pull out a science book and make up some techno babble. Anyway. Enjoy!

Chapter 2

Ben Stanley, or "the Math Whiz" as he was usually called, had just made a scientific breakthrough. After two years of hard work he had discovered the elemental balance that could prove his theory was possible. Ten years ago he started to study the reason behind the strengths and weaknesses of human beings. He knew that the reason people excelled in different aspects was based on their DNA. He believed also that if the correct formula could be found and applied to the DNA of a normal human being, these strengths could be amplified, and therefore, create a super human response.

For eight years the Math Whiz searched for funding to test his hypothesis. He lectured to governments, pharmaceuticals, and privately funded research groups with no luck. They all said the same thing, they would not grant him funding so he could create what sounded to them to be no more than another steroid. Although he tried to argue that this wasn't the case, and that while steroids worked to enhance the physical body only, this formula would enhance the strengths that applied to the DNA only, and with no side effects.

Finally after 8 years, a man named Rollo had contacted him. He was interested in the MathWhiz's theory and offered to fund his research completely. The Math Whiz was flown to Melbourne, and was given everything he needed for his research. Every Wednesday at noon, Rollo would come by his lab and check on his progress. This went on for two years.

The Math Whiz many times wondered why it was Rollo had given him so much liberty. He went the first 9 months without any success at all. He waited nervously every Wednesday for Rollo to come in and let him go. Rollo, however never lost patience it seemed. He would simply write down what he had seen in his agenda, thank the Math Whiz for his time and leave.

Nine months into his research he found that some elements could affect human DNA through the mere touch of skin. After this breakthrough things began to look promising. After 15 months he discovered the elemental formula he had been searching for, but he couldn’t find a proper way to contain the formula without it quickly losing its integrity. Finally after two years he had discovered that the formula's integrity remained stable when it was combined with 18-karat gold.

The amount of contact to human skin needed to cause an effect was minimum, a golden ring could amplify one's talents a hundred fold, therefore, the Math Whiz, brought together all the elements needed, and created the first golden ring.

The Math Whiz took the ring in his hand. He paused for a moment, breathed in deep and slipped the ring onto his middle finger on his left hand. A surge of energy rushed into his brain, and he was overwhelmed with a fountain of understanding that he had never before known. Ideas flowed through his brain at a thousand miles an hour, and suddenly the impossible seemed possible. He understood time travel, and knew how to make it work. He could envision a perpetual motion machine; it was so obvious to him. The mysteries of the universe were no longer mysteries. His brain was able to comprehend it all. He looked down at the ring. He grabbed it by his index finger and thumb and slipped it back off. The knowledge was gone. The Math Whiz smiled. He was definitely getting a bonus for this!

Family Picture Day

When Romina was pregnant with Lincoln, she would always show me these broshures, on baby photographers, and would go on about getting pics taken. The prices were outlandish and if anybody know me, they will know I am cheap. I promised her that after the baby was born, we would wait 6 months and have family pictures taken. This way Lincoln wouldn't look wierd, like all newborns do, and she and I could both try to lose a bit of weight. Well, the time came and there was no more post-poning the inevitable, so yesterday, I called and set up an appointment to get the pictures taken. I had the option of 1pm or 4pm. I chose 4 since gabe usually takes a nap around 1PM. Well, he decided to wait until we were driving to get the pics taken to FINALLY take his nap. So after about 20 minutes of sleep, I had no choice but to wake him up.

Lincoln was a little angel, He would just sit there and smile his little face off. But Gabe was a pill. He cried the whole time and it took everything the photographer had to get him to smile the few shots he actually did smile. Surprisingly enough, there were some good shots. We got a disc with all the photos she took. Here are some of the better ones.

This was the only way we could get him to sit for this pic. That is why he has the basetball.

I appear in this picture because it is the only way I could keep Gabe calm and get the two to sit still. Its easy to fix though

He's Gabe! He's Gabe in tights!

He roams around the forest looking for fights....

This was part of Gabe's Halloween costume last year. A friend came over to see him all dressed up and he took this picture when he was halfway undressed. He just barely got around to sending it to me today. I had to post it for all to see! These are the pics that you keep to show to the girls he brings home!

Chapter 1

Okay, this is the first chapter and the first thing I wrote...The Prolouge was written later. I will post chapter 2 later. I am poting this all by chapters because I can get more written and have more to share later! I am only on chapter 11 right now. Also, take note that this story is ever changing. I am always going back and adding more here and there and chagning bits. Its because as i get along further in the story, my characters develop more and I have to go back and add or change things to set up that development. So what you are reading now may be differnt later on.

Chapter 1

Jason Baynes slipped into the shadows behind a dumpster in a moonlit alley in Sydney Australia. He crouched down and tried with all his might to control his breathing. He tried to calm himself by breathing in for two seconds and then out for two more. He peered out towards the street and watched as the man who had been chasing him entered into the alley as well.

The man, from what Jason could see, was winded also. He pulled off his bowler hat and ran his gloved hand through his dark hair. He looked to be around 35. He reached into his trench coat and pulled out a cigarette and lit it up. He inhaled the cancer stick and seemed to somehow gain control of his breath.

Jason jumped when a cell phone ring sounded. He frantically reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone trying frantically to silence the damn thing. He looked at it, only to find it hadn’t sounded at all. The bowler hat man in the alleyway flicked his cigarette to the ground, pulled a cell phone out of his coat pocket, flipped it open and said,

"Yeah?" There was a pause as the bowler hat man listened. "No, I don't have him yet, he's managed to lose me." Silence filled the alley again with the exception of the muffled voice coming from the phone. "I saw him come into an alley, but I don't see him in here." The man looked up above him at the fire escapes, and tugged at a door to see if it were open. The muffled voice continued to talk through the cell phone, this time a little louder. Who ever was on the other end of this conversation, was not happy.

Jason tried his hardest to hear what was being said. The only words he heard before the muffled voice was cut off were,

"Find him, find out who he is and why he is so important to the Ghost. Use any means necessary. Then get rid of him!"

Jason gasped in horror.

"Why are they looking for me? I don't know this Ghost person," he thought. He peered back out into the alley. The bowler hat man was gone. "Where did he go?" He wondered. "He must have left." Jason slowly stood up and breathed a sigh of relief, but his relief was premature. The sound of crunching gravel from behind him sounded in his ear. Jason spun around to see what had made the noise, only to see a black sack come over his head. It was the last thing he would ever see. Jason then fell unconscious with a crushing blow to the back of his head.

Better post something new!

So its been a while since I have last posted and I felt I had better post something soon or my sister who is the only person who actually reads this crap might complaing! Hi Brianne! Love Ya! I have a lot of free time at work, so to keep busy I have taken up writing. I am working on a book which right now goes by the working title "the beginning." Here is the prolouge. I just added it the other day. I have about 11 chapters written so far. They are all similar to Dan Brown, and James Patterson Chapters. e.g. short and sweet! Anyway, I hope you enjoy and can't wait to hear what you think.

Prologue

Charles McCalister opened his eyes and looked outside the L Train window at the passing landscape. Soon the landscape came to a standstill and the train doors popped open. McCalister stepped onto the Platform at the Oak Park Station. The cold January air found its way through his cloths. He pulled his coat tight and shoved his hands into his pockets. He cautiously rushed down the frozen stairs onto the street and headed north towards the Apartment building two blocks away.

The streets were empty that morning. Everyone was fast asleep, having celebrated the New Year the night before. McCalister had been too busy working all night trying to maintain peace, and order. He was a Chicago city police officer, going on his 9th year with the force. After five minutes of walking, McCalister crossed the street in front of his apartment stepping on a banner that read "Happy New Year 1992." He stepped onto the sidewalk and pulled out his keys and let himself into the warm building. He promptly put them away when he saw that the door was already opened.

"Worthless people!" He muttered to himself. "How hard is it to close a door?" McCalister made his way up the three flights of stairs and down the long hall to his door. He once again pulled out his keys, only to find his door hadn't been locked.

"You have got to be kidding me! That stinking woman is gonna get herself killed one of these days!" McCalister thought to himself. His girlfriend Nancy never locked the door behind her when she was at home. McCalister walked into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. He pulled out the milk carton and took a big swig, finishing off what was left. He then made his way into his living room and crashed onto the sofa, and flipped on the TV. He surfed through the channels and finally settled on Sesame Street, cause he didn't want to watch the early morning news, or infomercials. His eyes started to get heavy and he was just about to fall asleep when a long forgotten voice spoke.

"Learning our ABC's our we?"

McCalister's eyes shot open to see a face he hadn't seen in ten years.

"Jack? What are you doing here? Get out now!" McCalister demanded. He jumped off the couch and made his way towards his bedroom door to check on Nancy.

"Chucky, relax! I've just come to see what you have been up too. It’s been so long, I thought we could bury the hatchet and work together again!"

McCalister peered into his bedroom to find Nancy sound asleep. He turned back towards Jack.

"Listen, I gave all that up a long time ago. Hell, I'm a cop now! I don't want anything to do with you, and I want you to leave right now!" McCalister said as he made his way to the front door and opened it. He gestured for Jack to leave.

"Now hear me out first Chuck," Jack pleaded. "I need you, you are the Hound Dog! There isn't anything you can't snoop out! I recognize that, unlike the Chicago PD, how many times have you applied for detective now?"

"No," McCalister screamed, "I won't work with you ever again! Not after what happened. Not after Sydney. Now get out of my apartment and never come back!" McCalister stared into Jack's eyes. There was a moment of silence that was broken when the bedroom door opened and Nancy walked out.

"What's going on Charles? Who is this man?"

"Nancy, go back in the bedroom and don't come out." McCalister said without taking his eyes off Jack. "And you," don't you say one word to her!"

Jack looked Nancy up and down.

"Well I see your taste in woman has improved. She is defiantly an improvement to the whores you used to pick up back in the day. I'll tell something else, I like how she squints her face while she sleeps." Jack smiled.

McCalister had heard enough; he rushed Jack, grabbed him by the shirt, slammed him up against the wall, and began to punch him in the face over and over again. Nancy screamed and ran into the bedroom closing the door, and for once locking it. McCalister pulled Jack to the front door and tossed him into the hallway.

"If I ever see you again, I will kill you!" McCalister threatened. Jack lay bleeding in the hallway. He looked up at McCalister, raised his arm and made his hand into a fist with his pointer finger extended and thumb up, making it look like a gun. He pointed at McCalister.

"Bang bang." Jack mocked. McCalister slammed the door and rushed into his bedroom to comfort Nancy, he knocked on the door.

"Nancy, let me in, he's gone." The door opened and Nancy ran back to the bed.

"It’s okay baby, he won't be back." McCalister said as he took Nancy in his arms.

"Who was he and what did he want with you?" Nancy asked.

"His name is Jack, he is a guy I once knew. But that was a long time ago, and he should have known better than to show himself around here. He won't be back though, he knows better than to mess with me."

Outside in the hallway, Jack pulled a handkerchief out and wiped the blood from his nose. He stood up and walked up to the front door. He reached for the doorknob and opened the door. McCalister had left it open. He walked to the bedroom door and listened to the conversation inside.

"But what if he does come back?"

"Listen babe, he is not gonna come back, you're safe now!" McCalister assured Nancy. Jack laughed to himself. He kicked the bedroom door open.

"That's always been your problem Chuck. You can't stop lying to the women."

The search for Charles McCalister ended on April 2nd 1992. A local fisherman had called 911 informing that he had found a dead body in his nets while fishing on Lake Michigan. Chicago Police were able to confirm through dental records that it was McCalister's body. His girlfriend Nancy was never found.

New video.

So I made a new video for Youtube. It is one of my more strange ones. It is a responce to a friend of mine from Australia who taped himself eating a coconut.

I figured they eat a lot of coconuts in Australia, while we as Americans eat a lot of everything! So I taped myself eating a Pizza. I sped up the video so it would go faster. I wanted to use the theme song to the Benny Hill show, but it wasn't long enough and as much as I tried I couldnt get it to fit with the video. So I changed the song to "Stuck in the middle with you" by Steely Dan. Then I found a cool little editing tool that played the movie in reverse. The result can be seen in the videos to the right of this blog, but if you are to lazy to go to that, I will post the link right here.

A day in the life of Lincoln "Log"

My wife and the kids went to Las Vegas for a couple of days. While they were away, I decided I could finally finish editing the video I've been wanting to make of Lincoln. I think it turned out pretty good. Check it out...

Like a Rolling Stone

When I was 10 years old, my dad made us all watch The David Letterman's 10th anniversary special. I had never heard of the guy before. I remember thinking it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen in my life. It was on prime time that night, and I remember my dad saying, "See what you guys miss everynight cause you are asleep?" we were only asleep cause he made us go to bed.

The reason we were watching it though, was because the big musical number would be Bob Dylan. He had a VHS cassette ready and everything to record this momentous occasion. Finally, the moment arrived and Bob sang "Like a Rolling Stone" with the CBS orchestra.

I remember thinking to myself, "Why do people like this guy?" Well, apparently this was not one of Bob's greatest performances ever. The next day at work a lady told my dad she was sorry for the dispapointment. But my dad kept that VHS tape, and about a year back, my friend converted it to disc.

Today my dad came over and we put the video on youtube, because we hadnt ever seen it before. So now the whole world can remember, and share in this nostalgic moment.

Two Post in One Day?

Yeah, this probably won't happen a lot, but then again it may. Here are somepics of my backyard as it stands now. I have a lot of work ahead of me. I have to put in a retaining wall because my yard slopes into a hill. I need to lay abunch of concrete, and I need to put in a sprinking system. All of this needs to be done before I can put grass down.

My retaining wall starts here and is going to turn as shown by the beautiful black line!

From here it will continue across the yard.

Right here, I would like to lay a cement patio between the two back doors.

This is what it would look like. Well, It should look better than this.

And finally on the side of the house I would like to lay more cement to espand my driveway. Here are some pics as to where I would like the cement to go.

I will post more pictures as the work progresses! I am hoping by next spring to be able to lay the grass! Wish me luck.

Desifier's Blog

So I stole this idea from my sister. Well, not really. I have been wanting to make a blog for a while. I just didn't know how. Then I had hers sent to me so I created my own. Anyway, I figure I am the only person who will ever look at this so it won't matter anyway!

Here is a video I made of my son Gabe:
